My name is Angie Paturzo and I have been making Dinky Babies for over two years. I was the first distributor to become Dinky Baby certified and was lucky enough to be taught soft sculpture techniques by my Aunt Vicki herself.

I live in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina with my husband of 17 years and our 16 and 15 year old sons. My 16 year old will be graduating next year. Vicki's Lil Anthony doll is named after him. My 15 year old has autism and is in the 8th grade. Zac the Special Bear was named after him Neither boy is the least bit interested in the dolls I make, but they think it is cool to have a doll named after them. :-)

Ever since I was young, I have loved "making stuff", doing something creative with my hands. Over the years I have made soap, jewelry, glass beads, handmade cards and the list goes on and on.....

I have been selling my dolls on ebay and more recently my website. I have gotten so many kind words about my dolls and it makes me so happy to think that some child is going to be playing with something I made!

I have worked in customer service and administrative fields for over 30 years and while I have loved doing this type work, I have always had a yearning to make dolls. During the early 90’s I made and sold dolls after I was laid off and this was such fun and I truly enjoyed it. With 3 boys at the time and a need for more income I gave up that venture and went back to doing admin work. In the past few years as the Web has become more popular and accessible I have become obsessed with dolls again and when I first saw a DinkyBaby on another site I was hooked. I can’t look at any one of them without smiling and I have one on a chest at the foot of my bed and he makes my happy every time I see his little bald head. I have a web site that I have been working on for quite some time and I sell patterns for DinkyBabies and hope to become certified soon. I love all things Baby!!! Now I have 4 boys and they are almost all grown up and the Babies are something I do for me and I truly enjoy them!

This basket was made with coffee and cinnamon stained fleece, handstitching “my button baby” on the front, and trimming with a piece of old lace from Granny’s sewing stash. A Button Baby face and matching lace collar is attached to the front. I thought this primitive style basket would look neat holding a Button Baby wearing an old fashioned Betsy-Ross style bonnet and antiqued off-white minky chenille (I’m still working on that baby). I used the white fleece from the kit for the basket. I chose the bunny that was with the kit I added pink ribbon for the eye and white fleece for the tail and I used the yellow on the ear of the bunny. I tied the flap on the basket with pink ribbon. I used woolfabric, then cut out flowers and used gold thread and seedbeads to stich on the flowers. I used some knots on the knitting yarn and another yarn as leaves.
The bag was punched together without any thread.That worked very well.

Look at who my sister is holding. Jingles is quite happy with a little paci in her mouth. I don't think I will be able to get her away from my sister now.

This little one needs a collar with a bell. She cannot walk yet, but boy does she crawl fast. The only way I know where she is, is by the jingle I hear.

Make a Button Baby Basket from our new kit!

Earlier this week my sister Bobbi said that I should design a basket for my newest pattern, Mel-O-Dee Button Babies. As I thought this over, I thought that this is a great idea. I just didn't want to do the ordinary, so this is what I came up with.

My sister and I spent the day working on these new little baskets. We had a ball and were so inspired about what we could do with these little baskets. Aside from enjoying my sisters company, she is an inspiration.

I will soon offer a kit that includes three different baskets and all the materials to make them. These baskets will hold the Mel-O-Dee Button Babies and more. More surprises are coming.

Brainstorming is taking place!


My sister and I were working on my latest release, "Mel-O-Dee Button Baby" and she said something and then it started making me think. As we kept talking about this new idea, it was getting better and better. We got so excited about it that it was hard to stay focused on what we were doing. This is going to be something that everyone will want to make and can make.


It is funny how you start with one thing and it leads to another idea and sometimes something wonderful is born. Because I love this new design, I am even coming up with a contest centered around it. You will be able to win $100 in Dinky Baby products for first place and there will be a second and third place prize as well.

Fantastic Find!

I am ever the bargain shopper. I think it stems from my childhood. Growing up poor, we learned very quickly the value of money. Our mother taught us how to make something from nothing, this is what started me in sewing.

I digress. I found something in the Christmas close out section of Wal-Mart, it is called Buffalo Snow. This stuff is great for stuffing cloth doll heads. It has the same teteture feel as Morning Glory or Mountain Mist stuffing. The price was fantastic, 75% off the $2.93 price, which made it about 70 cents a bag.

It may be too late this year to find any left, but there is always next year. After Christmas reductions at Wal-Mart can be great.
